Standby Costume Assistant
The Standby Costume Assistant is the on-set costume role — managing touch-ups, continuity, and quick changes between takes.
What the role does
- Stands by on set ready to address costume continuity between takes
- Manages quick changes during shoot
- Records continuity stills of each costume in each scene
- Carries the on-set costume kit — repair tools, lint rollers, spare elements
- Reports continuity issues to the Costume Supervisor
Position
Reports to Costume Supervisor operationally on set.
Career progression
SI Competency Framework Level 3 — Experienced. Path: Costume Trainee → Standby Costume Assistant → Costume Supervisor.
