RTÉ — Raidió Teilifís Éireann

Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) is Ireland's public-service broadcaster, commissioning original Irish programming for RTÉ One, RTÉ 2, RTÉ Player, RTÉ Junior, and various platforms. Independent commissions are handled through the Independent Production Unit (IPU).

Commissioning

The IPU is the main interface for indie producers. RTÉ commissions across drama, comedy, documentary, children's, lifestyle, entertainment and arts.

Deliverables — broad strokes

Marketing & Communications asks (publicity stills, episode synopses, key art, talent biographies) are due 16 weeks before transmission.

Programme Makers' Guidelines

RTÉ maintains an extensive Programme Makers' Guidelines document (2002 edition still the working reference, with episodic updates) covering editorial standards, taste & decency, accuracy, fairness, election coverage, religious programming, children's content and much more. Producers commissioned by RTÉ should be familiar with the relevant sections.

Strands

• RTÉ Junior — RTÉ's children's strand. Distinct from TG4 — Teilifís na Gaeilge's Cúla4 — never conflate the two.
• RTÉ News + Current Affairs — separate commissioning structure from IPU; not in scope here.

Producers delivering to RTÉ should confirm well in advance:
1. Pre-assigned Media ID for each episode
2. Aspera FASPEX delivery access
3. Subtitle deliverable specifications
4. AD tracks on the master
5. Marketing assets timeline (16 weeks pre-TX)
