Sound Editor
The Sound Editor handles the post-production sound work — editing and designing the production's sound track. Dialogue editing, ADR placement, foley spotting, sound effects design, ambience.
What the role does
- Edits production dialogue + ADR
- Designs sound effects + ambience
- Coordinates foley with foley artists
- Hands off to Re-recording Mixer for final mix
- Coordinates with Editor on picture cut + sound spotting
Position
Reports to director + producer on creative. Hands off to Re-recording Mixer.
Career progression
Specialist post career through assistant sound editor → Sound Editor → Supervising Sound Editor.
Working pattern
Freelance, post-heavy.
