The Costume Supervisor runs the operational workroom + on-set team under the Costume Designer and Assistant Costume Designer.

What the role does

  • Runs the workroom schedule — what gets made, sourced, altered when
  • Manages the costume budget in coordination with Assistant Costume Designer
  • Coordinates supplier deliveries + returns
  • Supervises the on-set Standby Costume Assistant team
  • Maintains the costume inventory + breakdown records

Position

Reports to Assistant Costume Designer and Costume Designer. Supervises the workroom + on-set team.

Career progression

SI Competency Framework Level 4 — Expert. Path: Costume Trainee → Standby Costume Assistant → Costume Supervisor → Assistant Costume Designer → Costume Designer.
